2017 Study Visit
The first official opportunity to visit the site of 24th World Scout Jamboree will be 21-24 July 2017. The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has offered to host the 24th World Scout Jamboree Study Visit participants as visitors during their National Scout Jamboree, which will take place at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, located in Glen Jean, West Virginia, USA.
While this is a great opportunity to see the site in its operational mode, this is NOT an official Head of Contingent meeting for the 24th World Scout Jamboree. The two official Head of Contingent Meetings will take place in April of 2018 and 2019.
This information sheet is being sent to all International Commissioners and will be included as an article in the bulletin and blog section of web site for the 24th World Scout Jamboree.
Heads of Contingent and the National Scout Organization (NSO) are responsible for issuing invitations and the necessary approvals to attend the Study Visit. NSOs are requested to limit their Study Visit Participants to the top adult leaders from their Contingent Management Team (CMT) or NSO. If necessary, the 24th World Scout Jamboree will limit the number of study visit participants from any single NSO. Those prospective Study Visit participants will complete an online registration to attend as well as make their hotel reservations directly with the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston, WV, USA. All participants are asked to complete the online registration and hotel reservations by 2 June 2017.
During the registration process, International Commissioners will receive emails from the office of the 24th World Scout Jamboree with the names of adults/CMT participants from their National Scout Organization (NSO) who have registered to attend the Study Visit Program. International Commissioners must approve adults/ CMT participants who register by sending a reply email to the Office of the 2019 World Scout Jamboree indicating approval. 24th World Scout Jamboree Study Visit participants must be approved by their NSO.
For approved adults/CMT members, the Study Visit Program will include tours of the Summit Bechtel Reserve while the BSA National Scout Jamboree is in action! Before or after the Study Visit Program, participants could also choose to visit North American locations for potential contingent touring options, including Charleston, WV. Those visits would be at their own cost.
Scheduled tours of the Summit Bechtel Reserve on Saturday 22 July and Sunday 23 July are expected to include:
o Observations of various program elements on-site
o Attending the 22 July evening Stadium Show at the National Jamboree
o Formal sessions with the leadership of the 24th World Scout Jamboree to address questions
Official accommodations for the 24th World Scout Jamboree Study Visit Program will be the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston, WV.
