Faith and Beliefs

When our founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell was asked where religion comes into Scouting, he replied “It does not come in at all. It is already there. It is a fundamental factor underlying Scouting.”

Faith and Beliefs Program Activities and Exhibits

At the Faith and Beliefs area in Freedom Field, Scouts will be able to explore their own faith, the faiths of others, and the sense of shared spirituality that connects us all.

  • Experience the connected nature of the five major world religions.
  • Explore eleven different faith groups.
  • Interact with chaplains from your own and others’ faiths.
  • Consider faith in the modern era and what comes with a committed faith.
  • Learn about the Messengers of Peace program and how Scouts around the world are promoting peace and dialogue among all peoples and faiths.

Jamboree-Wide Scout’s Own Service

Sunday, 28 July, 2019 | 8:30am EST
LOCATION: AT&T Summit Stadium

This is a unique opportunity to experience camaraderie from a world-wide array of Scouts. This service will be a mixture of readings, reflections, music, and prayers. We will even harken back to days of old when Lord Baden-Powell delivered similar messages to the very first World Scout Jamborees held in Europe. We will join with the 24th World Scout Jamboree Band, consisting of Scout musicians from six continents, as we come together in Scout Spirit and in song. We will understand the meaning of the World Brotherhood of Scouting. We will hear stories of inspiration from Scout Leaders that can help shape our Scout values. One of the highlights today will be the opportunity for YOU to be part of an attempt to set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORD, hopefully one that will stand for years to come. You will not want to miss this Scout’s Own service; bring along a friend that you have met at the 24th World Scout Jamboree!

Daily Subcamp Services

Every morning, jamboree chaplains from various faiths will offer services all over the jamboree. Check the schedule below for the current listing of services available in subcamps.
