Aerial Sports

REQUIRED ATTIRE: Everything should be tucked in; no clothing should be hanging out. No lanyards. Must have closed-toe shoes. A helmet and harness are provided and required for all Aerial Sports activities. For some Aerial Sports activities gloves will also be required and provided.


The Big Zip

DESCRIPTION: If you like going fast with a bird’s-eye view, clip into one of five zip lines that zig and zag over Adventure Valley at the Summit. There are miles and miles of aerial adventure — five parallel zip lines over a combined 3,000 feet (914 meters) long. Reach speeds of up to 50 mph (80 km/h) as you soar over the Summit Bechtel Reserve on one of the longest zip line courses in all of North America.

PLEASE NOTE: Must be minimum of 50 lbs. (22 kg), maximum of 250 lbs. (113 kg).

TIME TO COMPLETE: 60 minutes, plus 40+ minute hike to launch area

The Canopy

DESCRIPTION: Taking to the trees at The Summit Bechtel Reserve is more than just zip lines. The Canopy is a tree-to-tree adventure that gives Scouts a new way to connect with the environment. The journey combines geology, history, and topography of the region to create an exciting encounter — all while suspended far above the earth.

Science Behind the Sport – This program area will also offer an optional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) educational experience delivered by West Virginia University on a first come, first served and space available basis.

Action Point Canopy

The Ropes

DESCRIPTION: Go further on one of the most extensive challenge course setups in North America. Navigating cargo nets, swinging logs, and rope bridges brings out the best in a person and shows what they’re capable of. Scouts will carry this sense of accomplishment and perseverance for the rest of their lives.

TIME TO COMPLETE: 180 minutes

Gateway & Legacy Zip Lines

DESCRIPTION: If you like a bird’s-eye view, clip into one of ten zip lines and fly over the Scott Summit Center. Five lines to the right (Gateway) and five lines to the left (Legacy) let you race your buddy high above the action. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget!

TIME TO COMPLETE: 45 minutes, plus 15 minute hike to launch area
