Scouting’s First World Scout Jamboree Band

The 2019 World Jamboree Band will be comprised of up to 80 musicians who will supply quality music for ceremonies, events, and generally to entertain the many Scouts and visitors to the Jamboree. Musicians performing with the band should register as IST members through their home NSOs. Band members will be made up of registered Jamboree IST members, with initial preference given to youth members, as defined by the WOSM. (ages 18 – 25.) IST members older than the age of 25 may still apply and may be included if space permits.  Band members will be accepted according to ability and instrumentation beginning March 2018. Fees are equivalent to IST cost for your NSO.

Instrumentation

Scouts and Scouters proficient on any instrument are encouraged to apply for the 2019 World Scout Jamboree Band. All instruments will be accepted, pending proficiency and aptitude. Scores/Charts and performances will be developed with diversity in mind, with a strong attempt to feature all instruments, especially unique soloists and combinations, not traditionally seen in Western Music.

Opportunities exist for sub-groups of the band, including percussion ensembles, chamber groups, rock-bands, and even choral groups.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will begin on Saturday July 20, or as soon as you arrive at the Summit. Days at the Jamboree will be divided in three parts for the band: Morning, Afternoon, and Evening, with no more than 2 of the 3 filled each day with either a rehearsal or performance. Rehearsals will take place in the At&T Summit Stadium, behind the Main Stage.

Near the beginning of Jamboree, there will be more rehearsals than performances, and we will transition to more performances than rehearsals throughout the event. The current schedule calls for no more than part-day rehearsals throughout the Jamboree.

Performances

Performances will be scheduled based on department and group requests by various members of the Jamboree Planning Team and Management. In addition, there will be high-visibility performances at various shows throughout the World Scout Jamboree, including Base Camp Bashes and at least one performances during a Stadium Show.
