As Executive Director, I observe the daily planning for the 24^th World Scout Jamboree. That planning is conducted through and with many great volunteers and staff.

Our planning is centered on our theme, Unlock a New World, as well as around the three pillars found in our brand platform: Friendship, Adventure, and Experience.

According to the World Organization for the Scouting Movement, a world jamboree is

“an opportunity to develop Scouting, promote good practices and improve the quality of Scouting in all countries, spread the image of Scouting in the wider world, and keep the Scout Method relevant to modern society. The World Scout Jamboree allows its Participants to experience an exemplary Scouting programme, faithful to the definition, Purpose, Principles and Scout Method and adapted to the needs and aspirations of young people in today’s world. Young people, supported by adults, undertake individual, small group and large group activities in the setting of a large camp, that enable them to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually, adhering to the Scout Promise and Law.”

Speaking on behalf of the co-chairs and the planning team for the 24^th World Scout Jamboree, the above definition and three pillars form the central core of our dedication.

All the phone calls, meetings, writing and actions are centered on delivering the WOSM definition.

We see ourselves as servant leaders for your scouts.

Our challenge is not only bringing the World Jamboree experience alive at Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, WV 22 July – 2 August 2019. Our challenge and vision include how to bring a jamboree experience to the millions of scouts unable to attend the actual jamboree.  In short, how can we help the 24^th World Scout Jamboree impact scouts worldwide?

While that challenge can be enhanced by an ever-growing technology, we strive to create opportunities to develop the Scout Promise and Law into the very character of young people.  In a true spirit of altruism, we want to change young people through the 24^th World Scout Jamboree.

For me, as, I believe, for each of you, this is the reason we are dedicated to Scouting.  We are together on this mission.  As you plan your contingent, allow us the pleasure of serving by offering you the tools that can be found in our brand platform.  In this way, we can fulfill the promise we made to each other:
