“Sound Strike” is Marine Band San Diego’s premier contemporary ensemble based in San Diego, CA. Performing throughout the United States at sporting events, music festivals, and television shows, Sound Strike has entertained millions. They perform classic rock to hits of today and are able to perform music of every genre. The highly requested group is comprised of 4 Marine musicians led by Staff Sergeant David “Chipp” Corderman Jr. (lead vocal/guitar), Gunnery Sergeant Frederick Kern (guitar), Sergeant Zachary Ojeda (vocal/bass), and Corporal Taylor McManaway (drums). Sound Strike’s sound engineer is Corporal Chase Philips.

Staff Sergeant Corderman spent time as a Boy Scout in Fredericksburg, VA from the ages of 6-12 years old. Corporal Philips spent time scouting in Maryland, from the ages of 5-18, starting as a Tiger Cub all the way to an Eagle Scout. Some of his achievements are: Order of the Arrow, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Instructor and Patrol Leader. In addition, Corporal Philips performed as bugler for his Boy Scout Troop 973.
