Grazie Stati Uniti, grazie Canada, grazie Messico.
Grazie Jamboree!!!

THE END OF AN EXPERIENCE, THE BEGINNING OF A STORY

We have almost reached the end of this fantastic experience, an experience that began on that unforgettable May 21st of a year ago when I received the following message: “Dearest, with this mail we inform you that your request to participate in the Jamboree was accepted! You are part of the AGESCI Contingent that will leave for the United States! “. I couldn’t believe it, I screamed with how much breath I had in my throat, my desire for Lupetto, which had become big, had finally become reality.
The meetings with my group followed, the Eastern Sicily – Ponte Umbertino, the knowledge of my leaders and my adventure companions, the construction of this mission day after day.
The sending of the nomination to Global Ambassador for my country and the e-mail with which I was informed of having been finally chosen. The thrill of going on stage during the Opening Ceremony and carrying the flag not of my nation but of an African country, Zambia, which had not been able to bring any representative to Jamboree: a pride for me, son of that Sicily that every day welcomes people from this magnificent continent that is Africa.
The reality was superior to any imagination, a daydream: a world of people belonging to different cultures united only by the desire to break down walls and create bridges. In his life a person will never see even 10 percent of what I could see in these two weeks. Uses, customs, food, traditional clothes, different ways of praying, welcoming, saying “hello, thank you, goodbye”. All this is the Jamboree, the dream of Baden Powell that comes reality before our eyes.
Yes, “breaking down walls and creating bridges”, this will be the purpose of my life from now on, to look for the things that unite us and help others to go beyond the things that divide them, for “UNLOCKING A NEW WORLD”.
Thanks United States, thanks Canada, thanks Mexico.
Thanks Jamboree !!!
