It’s just the start!

We’re here! The Philippine Contingent already arrived last night. Assemble the tent. Arrange the utensils. Put the tables. Get work done. Finished.
Work may seem easy, well it truly is, but that involves every member of the troop to get things done smoothly. After settling down, we had our dinner and then it was time to have a rest.
As Global Ambassador, my first ever activity was to attend the Global Ambassador Orientation Program at the tent of the Connected Experience in the morning.
We learned different things such as what our duties are, how to write a blog, how to take a good photo, and more!

Being a Global Ambassador, we had our perks, but we also had our own responsibilities that come with it.

Before meeting was adjourned, we were informed that as ambassadors of our countries, we shall serve as flag-bearers of our own country.
After that, I went back to camp for lunch and to prepare for the Opening Ceremony at the AT&T Summit Stadium.
During break, while I was scrolling through the #ScoutJamboree’s Instagram account for updates, I suddenly saw that the World Scout Foundation’s Ambassador, NCT Dream will be performing at the Basecamp C/D Stage so I invited my fellow scouts to come and see their performance. It’s a free concert in the jamboree!

After this, I went back to camp to wear my Type A uniform and then proceeded to my way to the Summit Center

At first I was lost, but the friendly International Service Team (IST) Members helped me get back on track.
The Opening Ceremony started with the parade of the flags of the different participating National Scouting Organizations (NSOs) and I was holding the flag of the Philippines.

As I walked in front of thousands of scouts from all over the world, I had goosebumps as I held the Philippine flag high up with honor and pride.
After that, the Global Ambassadors Adult Team gave us dinner and then after it we went back to our own contingents. We were also able to watch the fireworks display at the back of the stage
For the program, the Chief Ambassador of World Scouting, Bear Grylls gave his message for all scouts all over the world. He was thanking everyone for their services to their respective communities and in helping to #MakeItHappen.
There were also different performances such as the thrilling and energetic music by the Recycled Percussion.
For me, the highlight of the Opening Ceremony was the light art that was created using drones. It was a very cool and smart way of using them!

After the Opening Ceremony, we all went back to camp for a good night sleep for tomorrow is another big and adventurous day!
