Today is August 10th and it’s been roughly a week since I got back home from the Jamboree. Since this is my last post, I decided it would be better to focus on the Jambo rather than the trip back home.
I’ve been waiting for this camp ever since the last World Scout Jamboree in Japan back in 2015. After four years of waiting it was time for the 24th World Scout Jamboree to kick off. Because I had been waiting for it for so long, it felt unbelievable that the WSJ was actually going to happen. But so did the ending of it. I never really thought how life would be post-Jambo but so far it’s… way more boring than Jamboree-life.
When we were on our way back home, a lot of people said they were super happy to get back and genuinely wanted to end their Jamboree -trip. And I didn’t relate to that at all. I mean, of course, I was happy to go back home and see my family and friends since I had been abroad for almost a month already but honestly I kind of wanted to stay at the Jamboree for another 12 days.
Even though I’m obviously sad that it’s over, I’m also excited about all the future adventures. One of my troop’s leaders said something that stayed with me throughout the Jamboree; “You go to a Jamboree for the experience and go back home so that you can experience it all over again”. So with that being said, all I’ve been thinking about ever since I got back to Finland is how I can’t wait to attend the next World Scout Jamboree in South Korea. I already once went through the four years of waiting and I know that I can do it again.
My experience at the Jamboree was unforgettable and surely one of the biggest highlights of all of the 18 years of my life. It was a life-changing event for me and I’ll always be grateful that I got to experience it. If you’re even thinking about attending a Jamboree, please do it. I promise with all of me that you won’t regret it.
Now it’s time to say goodbye and more importantly, thank everyone. I want to thank the World Scout Jamboree and everyone who made it possible for 50 000 scouts to enjoy the Jamboree. I want to thank every single person I met at the Jambo because all of them made my experience even better. Also, thank you to the Global Ambassador staff and everyone who worked on the program, my Jamboree couldn’t have been better. Last but not least, thank you to everyone who kept up with my blog posts and followed my journey at the Jamboree.
