Greetings!

My name is Allen Brown, and I am from Houston, TX.  I am a retired banker, having served 8 different banks over the course of 36 years.  Married for 44 years, my wife and I are parents of three adult children (our son is an Eagle Scout) and proud grandparents of three grandsons.

In my volunteer life, I have utilized my banking/finance background from Mississippi State University and Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University to serve several different organizations.  Those organizations include schools such as Strake Jesuit College Preparatory as chair of the foundation board, the United States Peace Corps as a business consultant volunteer in Ecuador, and the Boy Scouts in roles ranging from council executive board member to area president. In addition, I have served in various capacities for three World and four BSA National Jamborees.

I am currently serving as the Director of Administration for the 24th World Scout Jamboree, alongside Assistant Director of Administration Glenn Armstrong of Scouts Canada.

In our roles leading event administration functions, Glenn and I are working to build a team of international volunteers to best serve the communications, registration, banking, and medical needs of participants and visitors from each National Scouting Organization.  We also want to ensure a great marketing and social presence for this fantastic event.

Glenn and I would like as many youth as possible to join us in 2019 at the Summit Bechtel Reserve for 12 days of adventure, friendship, leadership, service, and sustainability.  To assist with that goal, we hope to open Jamboree registration this summer so the excitement surrounding the 24th World Scout Jamboree grows and NSOs can continue marketing to and registering participants.

To allow NSOs to learn more about the 2019 Jamboree site, NSO-approved contingent members will have an opportunity to see the Summit Bechtel Reserve in action this summer during the Study Visit Program, 21-24 July 2017. Hosted by Director of Operations Kent Clayburn, the study visit will take place in Charleston, West Virginia with day trips to the Summit Bechtel Reserve during the Boy Scouts of America’s 2017 National Scout Jamboree.

Here is some basic information:

o   Accommodations in Charleston, WV

o   Tour the Summit Bechtel Reserve (transportation provided)

o   Enjoy the fellowship of Scouts and Scouters attending the BSA 2017 National Scout Jamboree

o   Meet to address questions

More information on the Study Visit Program is available here. Join us for the study visit and get a preview of the wonderful experience participants will have in 2019. Additional instructions on reservations, schedule, and packing list will be sent directly to those who register for the Study Visit Program.

As the Director of Administration, I invite you and the Scouts of your NSO to Unlock a New World and join us for all the 24th World Scout Jamboree offers!
