The World Scout Jamboree

I don’t think I can put into words what has happened to me in these 10 days.

I can tell you that I have seen 45,000 young people from 150 countries living together, showing the world that prejudices can be broken down and that diversity is an incredible wealth.

I have seen boys and girls from countries at war with each other,  shaking hands and hugging each other.
I saw teenagers of different religions helping each other and making friends.
I saw Japanese dancing Italian songs.
I saw thousands of lights lighting up for the same song.
I saw the most beautiful fireworks of my life.
I saw the former UN secretary and the president of the World Scout Movement talking about our role in the world.

Actually, what I really saw are young people with completely different cultures who have shown that it is possible to unlock a new world.
We are a generation that will have to face a lot of big challenges, from global warming to international terrorism, but we will have to face them together. In these 10 days we have seen a wonder, a world that knows how to be together quietly, because diversity builds bridges and does not lead to walls.
